If you’re a car but with $17.5 million burning a hole in your pocket, you have got to check out this one-of-a-kind home! Feast your eyes on The Oaks, a French provincial-style mansion that is located just outside of Tampa on the banks of Lake Thonotosassa.
Built for RV sales mogul Don Wallace, this massive 36-acre estate has something for everyone, including 8 bedrooms, 26 bathrooms, indoor and outdoor salt water pools, a two-story guest house, antique collector garage that can hold up to 20 cars, pool house, gatehouse, horse barn with grazing pasture, expansive loggias, 2-story boat house, and a 1-mile jogging trail.
To keep his collection of over 80 cars running properly, he built a vast but surprisingly discreet 11,000-square-foot workshop, which features a pro-grade mechanical workshop (complete with body and paint facilities), where Wallace had cars in his collection fully restored on site. Cars housed there included a McLaren F1 LM, a Ferrari 250LM, and a ’67 Plymouth Barracuda Hemi Under Glass.
And when he wanted to have some fun, he could take them out on a snaking, 8-turn racetrack that he had custom built on the grounds. Yep, that’s right, this place has a freaking racetrack! According to the realtor, the track was originally built for go-karts, but it’s still big enough to have some autocross-style fun. If this isn’t a dream home, I’m not sure what is.
Naturally, no home is complete without a vast ground-floor man cave, complete with bowling alley and 1950s-style diner, dedicated home gym complete with a saltwater pool, steam and sauna rooms, massage area, and even two race-driving simulators. With all of this cool stuff, why would you ever leave here?
For those who like to cook, they’ll appreciate the huge open layout kitchen that features top-of-the-line appliances from Perlick, Imperial blue granite on the countertops and backsplash, and Subzero refrigerators. An industrial-grade, 72-inch LaCornue range anchors the space.
If you still need convincing, just check out this video:
“The Oaks is an architectural masterpiece of epic proportions, and achieves the rare ability for a home of this size to feel warm, intimate and inviting,” Mary Pond, listing agent for the Pond Gunning team at Smith & Associates, said in a statement.
The home, built in 2012, is currently listed on the Smith & Associates Real Estate website for $17,500,000. If I somehow win the Powerball and this place is still on the market, I’m buying it ASAP and filling it with supercars and classics alike.
