Short of astronauts, you’d be hard-pressed to find anyone who gets to enjoy more spectacular views than an airline pilot.. especially when they’re flying at night!
Case in point, check out this mesmerizing time-lapse of the Milky Way captured by airline pilot, photographer, and film producer Sales Wick during an overnight flight from Zürich to São Paulo. The video shows the world, glowing cities, and other airplanes passing below the Milky Way above.
“Flying through the night while the world beneath us is at sleep is a pretty common thing as a long haul pilot,” Wick writes on his blog. “The latter is the case for my flight today across the Atlantic Ocean to South America. Our flight is packed and some 340 passengers are settling in for a long night flight.”
For those of you wondering what kind of equipment Wick shot this footage with, he used a Sony a7S and a 35mm f/1.4 lens. You can find more of his work on his website BeyondClouds.
