Texas Lawyer Gets Stuck On Cat Filter During Virtual Hearing: “I’m Not A Cat”

OMG, tell me this isn’t the funniest shit you’ve ever seen. Due to the pandemic, the 394th District Court in Brewster County, Texas held virtual court proceedings over Zoom, which in itself is nothing that out of the ordinary.

But when attorney Rod Ponton logged on to the meeting, he appeared on the screen as a cat. Judge Roy Ferguson quickly informs Ponton of the issue, saying “I believe you have a filter turned on in the video settings.”

You can hear the panic in Ponton’s voice as he frantically tries to disable the filter without success, telling everyone that “I’m prepared to go forward with it. I’m here live, I’m not a cat.” 🤣🤣🤣

Thankfully, the judge had a sense of humor about the whole thing, sharing the video on social media and reminding everyone that “If a child used your computer, before you join a virtual hearing check the Zoom Video Options to be sure filters are off. This kitten just made a formal announcement on a case in the 394th.”

At the end of the day, it gave everyone a much-needed laugh in these trying times, “I’m not a cat” quickly became a meme, and I’m totally using this filter on my next Zoom call!
